Did they use wood fire? Anything cooked in a wood fire or charcoal or rice hull taste better than those cooked in a electric/gas stove.

Chai actually just means regular tea. Masala chai is milk tea with spices (which is what you are referring to), and it is also possible to get “milk tea” in which you have to add your own sugar (and which has no spices). I wasn’t sure what they call the latter, so I kept the English name. Interestingly, in Bangladesh, they pronounce chai as “cha,” which is the original word for tea from China.

Most of the tea stalls use charcoal fires.

There is another variation of milk tea that I have tried. It is called nai cha which is a sweet ice milk tea added with black gulaman (a gelatin made from seaweed). Thirst quenching. Perfect for the summer. Ah…
